[Case Study] Switching from cutting processing to MIM reduces material costs and lead time!

We propose optimal shapes and manufacturing methods tailored to your needs and budget. If you are looking for thin-walled and fine metal parts, please contact Castem.

The image shows an example of a metal part that was traditionally produced through cutting processes, which has been switched to mass production using the MIM (Metal Injection Molding) method. The improvement in mass production capabilities has significantly reduced lead times. Since the weight of the product greatly affects costs in MIM, a bold reduction of 90g was achieved, from 130g to 40g, while maintaining strength and accommodating the original complex three-dimensional shape. Material: SUS304L Weight: 40g Size: 40×35×35 **Features of Castem's MIM** - Specializes in thin-walled and finely detailed three-dimensional complex shapes, offering superior mechanical strength compared to conventional sintered products. The surface is smooth, and the dimensional accuracy of the metal molded parts is high. - Exhibits properties equivalent to those of wrought materials in terms of torsion and bending. - Compatible with a wide range of materials, including Cr-Mo steel, special steels, and titanium. - With multiple base factories in Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, and Colombia, it is not reliant on a single factory, allowing for a broader range of responses in emergency situations and ensuring stable supply. - Quality management is conducted under a solid management system with ISO9001 certification for both domestic and overseas factories. - Castem's MIM parts are actively used in industries that require precision, such as medical device components and aerospace parts.

Total production of parts

Solving many concerns such as 'I don't really know which shape or manufacturing method is best' and 'I'm satisfied with the quality but want to keep the price down'!

Ikeda Sangyo conducts total production of parts that can only be realized by a trading company. We respond to customer requests by raising the required values of each product's <quality, cost, and delivery time>, while making appropriate selections that leverage the characteristics of each manufacturer. We have numerous companies not only in Japan but also in South Korea, Taiwan, and China, allowing us to connect to your VA/VE needs. Additionally, we conduct pre-shipment inspections at overseas and domestic factories, as well as inspections at our headquarters, providing products that satisfy our customers, even for a wide variety of small lots. Ikeda Sangyo resolves many of our customers' concerns, such as "I don't really know which shape or manufacturing method is best," and "I'm satisfied with the quality, but I want to keep costs down." We handle not only lost wax (precision cast parts) but also MIM, forging, pressing, sintered alloys, die casting, machining, sheet metal, and assembly (integration) of small parts, so please feel free to consult with us. For more details, please contact us or download our catalog.

Cost reduction through changes to lost-wax casting methods and standardization (with examples).

Standardization with lost wax, shape changes are also possible. Weight reduction and cost reduction can also be achieved!

Parts that are being machined and assembled may have the potential for cost reduction. By integrating shapes made up of numerous parts, we aim to achieve cost reduction. It is also possible to reduce weight and costs by eliminating joint areas that were necessary for assembly. 【Shape】 Complex shapes and those with three-dimensional curved surfaces can be mass-produced at low cost. 【Material】 You can freely choose from special steel, stainless steel, copper alloys, and aluminum alloys. Additionally, material changes can be made using the same mold, making it easier to compare and evaluate during the prototype stage. 【Strength】 Since adjacent parts and attached components can be integrated and cast, we can eliminate weak points caused by assembly and welding. For movable parts, weight reduction can eliminate unnecessary inertial forces, increasing durability. Thus, strength can be freely pursued from both shape and material perspectives. 【Casting Surface】 There may be slight differences depending on the casting material, but small parts are around 12S, and large parts are around 20S. 【Precision】 Compared to other casting methods, the precision is high, allowing for a reduction in the number of machining processes. We will consider and propose appropriate shapes together, so please feel free to consult with us first.

Are you satisfied with the machining of that part? Cost reduction through the lost-wax process.

Over 70 varieties of diverse steel types. Based on more than 35,000 models of experience, we will provide the best proposals!

We need precision parts, but machining is costly... Multiple processes like machining and welding are required, which is labor-intensive... We want to integrate multiple parts... Would you like to solve such concerns with 【Lost Wax Precision Casting】? 【Castem's Lost Wax Method】 "Lost Wax Precision Casting" specializes in complex three-dimensional shapes. Since our founding, we have continued to respond to customer inquiries for production, with over 35,000 types of achievements ranging from simple to complex items. In response to various material requests, we have started handling over 70 types of steel, including stainless steel, copper, and aluminum. Of course, we also accommodate special steels and ultra-high-strength aluminum materials (optimizing original casting for A7075). 【Cost Reduction Examples】 The thumbnail shows a cost reduction case achieved through shape modification and integration by switching to lost wax casting. In conventional products, we manufactured through multiple processes including laser cutting, bending, machining, and welding, but we proposed integration using the lost wax method. This eliminates the hassle of managing processes, reduces machining, and enhances strength. By checking the contact surface with the object and making that part convex, we reduced the dimensional management range, making quality control easier.

Lost wax precision casting: Cost reduction through optimal shape modification and integration.

We propose optimal shapes tailored to needs such as cost reduction and weight reduction.

The image is an example of how the transition to lost-wax precision casting has led to cost reduction. Previously, products were manufactured through multiple processes including laser cutting, bending, machining, and welding. We proposed integration through the lost-wax method. Since it can be produced using a single method, it eliminates the hassle of managing processes and allows for reductions in machining and increases in strength due to integration. Additionally, by checking the contact surface with the object and making that part convex, we have reduced the dimensional management range, making quality control easier. ■Product Details Material: SCS13 (precision casting) Size: 132×100×87 Weight: 763g Thickness: 3.5–5mm Machining: Blue surface 【Castem's Lost-Wax Method】 "Lost-wax precision casting," which specializes in hollow and complex three-dimensional shapes. Since our founding, we have continued to respond to customer inquiries for manufacturing from simple shapes to difficult ones, with a track record of over 35,000 types of precision metal parts across various industrial fields. Based on our accumulated experience and careful listening to our customers, we propose optimal shapes tailored to needs such as cost reduction and weight saving. [Case Study] Manufacturing small lot parts using precision casting technology with lost wax!

Manufacturing small lot parts using lost-wax precision casting technology!

In a food factory, the hammer components of the grinder (hammer mill) have deteriorated due to wear, resulting in unstable grinding particle size. Issues: 1. The machine was purchased used, is of an old model, and cannot receive support or parts supply from the grinder manufacturer. 2. There are no part drawings available; only the worn parts exist. 3. The motor and the main cover are still functioning without any issues. 4. A single grinder uses 12 hammers (all are worn to a similar extent).
